Getting to Iceland
There are three main airlines that have regular flights to and from Iceland’s Keflavík International Airport (KEF): EasyjetIcelandair and Wow Air. There are also a number of other airlines that have less frequent, or chartered flights to Keflavík. It can be useful to use the Icelandic based flight search engine dohop to search airline companies serving your route.

Getting to Reykjavík
When you arrive in Iceland you will land at the International airport in Keflavík, which is approximately a 45-minute drive from Reykjavík. Iceland has no train services, so you can either take the bus, a taxi or rent a car to get to the city. A taxi can be picked up outside the main arrivals lounge.

By Bus
The Flybus is operated in connection with all arriving and departing flights at Keflavík airport. Buses depart 35-40 minutes after each flight arrival and are located right outside the terminal. Tickets can be purchased online, or at the Flybus desk in the arrivals lounge.

Reykjavík Excursions also offers transfer services; they can also be combined with Blue Lagoon tours.

Airport Express also offers transfer between Keflavík International Airport (KEF) and Reykjavík. Door to door service to and from major hotels and guest houses in Reykjavík is also available.

IceRelax offers private direct transfer in comfortable cars between the Airport and your hotel or apartment in Reykjavík. The car carries up to five passengers. One way price per vehicle is 97 EUR and the round trip 178 EUR, additional details can be found here.


 Route to the conference venue University of Iceland

Conveniently located near the City Center, the campus can be reached by bus, car and is an easy walk to the University.

By bus
The University of Iceland is conveniently located for public transport and many bus routes have stops close to a number of University buildings.

Routes 1, 3, 6 and 14 stop at Hringbraut. Name of bus stop: Háskóli Íslands.

Route 12 stops at Suðurgata. Name of bus stop: Suðurgata við HÍ.

Both routes will bring you to the main building of the University.

You can buy single trip tickets on the bus for 420 ISK. You must pay the exact fare in cash. The driver will not give change and will not accept credit cards. If you use the Straeto app, you can register your credit card and use it to pay on the bus. Additional fees may apply for a mobile phone data connection. Multi-day passes and a 20 ride ticket are available.
During the summer season, buses will run every 30 minutes during the day times.

By foot or bike
Reykjavík is a walkable city, most hotels/hostels are within at 15-20 min walk.

Weather: The average daytime temperature around the coast during May to September is 10-12°C (50-55°F). A warm summer day would have temperatures around 20°C (68°F). Average daily sunshine in August is 17-18 hours and during the summer months the nights are bright. You may need some light warm clothing in the evenings. Don’t forget an umbrella, raincoat, and walking shoes.

Visa Requirements: For further information please contact the Iceland Embassy or Consulate in your country of residence. Please make requests for required letters of invitation to the System Dynamics Society office as soon as possible.

Tipping: Service charges are included in the bill in restaurants and hotels. Tipping is not necessary.
