System Dynamics Applications Award Committee

Applications Award Committee

Relation between the Awards Committee and the Applications Award Committee: The Awards Committee shall, with the approval of the Policy Council, establish awards, define the procedures to be followed in making those awards, and appoint the committees responsible for administering the awards. [Motion 103, Winter Policy Council E-Meeting January/February 2008]

In 2012 all award subcommittees members’ terms are fixed at five years, with a normal two-term maximum. [Motion 108, Winter Policy Council E-Meeting March 2012]

In 2016 the Awards Committee is allowing the Applications Award to be given as often as once per year, giving the committee discretion to give the award when there is a worthy candidate, but does not obligate giving the award every year (similar to the way the Forrester Award is awarded). [See Winter PC Meeting Report: Moxnes, Erling (1016) Awards committee report]

At the Winter Policy Council February 2016 the Awards Committee included: The Applications Award Committee requested that the Awards Committee authorize the awarding of the Applications Award as often as every year. Until now the award has been presented every other year. With the alternating sequence of Europe/North America as conference locations, this means that the award is always given in the North American conference. That is not ideal. Allowing the award as often as once per year gives the committee discretion to give the award when there is a worthy candidate but does not obligate giving the award every year (similar to the way the Forrester Award is awarded). The Awards Committee agrees and asks that the wording for the Application Award is changed accordingly.
