Lucy,
The rate changes each year and for each category of presentation (plenary, parallel, poster, workshop, etc.).

This is based upon the quality of papers, the physical spaces in which the conference is held, the theme, and the discretion of the Thread Chairs and the Program Chairs.

In 2018 there are more categories for submission. Please take a look at: https://www.systemdynamics.org/conference-record. There are now Work in Progress and Feedback categories, new this year.

I will try and find the statistics on the past acceptance rates.

Hi Lucy,
Len is absolutely right. The historic acceptance rate has depended on many factors. That said, the new paper acceptance categories were created to increase the acceptance rate such that more papers that contain System Dynamics and are thoughtfully written have a place at the annual conference. The goal is to encourage submissions AND provide useful feedback to the authors.

I have been the Business Thread Chair for the past few years. I see a wide range of papers each year. This year, more of the papers submitted to the business thread were placed into some kind of session. At a minimum, my goal is to provide helpful feedback to all submissions that could benefit, accepted or not.
