Abstract for: Modeling the Diffusiondynamics of a new Renovation Concept

This paper reports on a preliminary version of a System Dynamics model of the diffusion dynamics of an innovative retrofit concept in the residential construction sector. The diffusion process is conceptualized as depending on the actions of two types of agents and the results of their interactions. The focus of the paper is on the positive feedback processes fueling the diffusion across the two groups of agents and on the negative feedback processes capable of shutting the diffusion process down. After exploration of the modelís feedback mechanisms, the results of three simulation scenarios are presented and discussed in view of societal policies and business strategies in support of the innovationís diffusion.
