Regarding the program: In October "network conveners" received letters asking for them to take on the main task of working toward getting a critical mass of people in an area to attend the conference. The conveners are in five constituencies: academic researchers, consultants, practitioners in business, practitioners in government and educators.

Both Jack and Joel have been receiving numerous E-mail messages containing abstracts.

Reviewers for the abstracts are also needed.

The call for papers was mailed in October and November to individuals and to publications to be included in the announcement section.

The deadline for abstracts was February 1. Acceptances will be mailed on March 1. Plenary presentations will be selected from completed papers only, submitted by May 1. Invitation to submit a paper for consideration for a plenary session will be mailed by March 1. Material for the conference proceedings is due by May 1. Deadline for preregistration for attending the conference is July 17.

By mid-February, between 3000 - 4000 registration brochures will be sent, both by post and an E-mail distribution list.

In keeping with the traditions of the Conference, participants will receive one copy of the proceedings, the final program and the list of participants. The complete list of papers can be found on the Internet at: http://www.albany.edu/cpr/sds/. Click on "International Conferences"
