Welcome to the Energy SIG Website
The energy sector
receives an increasing interest worldwide due to the growing perception by many
stakeholders that energy plays a very important and even crucial role in abating
climate change while also facilitating sustainable development for our society.
A holistic view on energy
policy and energy developments is needed to address all sustainability
dimensions in assessing the potential role of such energy developments in the
market as well as in communicating the results of such assessment of various
energy options to a variety of stakeholders. System Dynamics (SD) is one of the
most appropriate modelling tools to facilitate the development of such a
holistic view.
The System Dynamics Society created the Special Interest Group on Energy, i.e.
'Energy SIG', in October 2006 with the
prime objective to further the
development of a holistic view on energy policy and energy systems by use of
systems thinking and use of system dynamics tools. Areas of interest for this
SIG are the development and application of system dynamics in:
-
Energy systems technology
development modeling
-
Technology assessment
-
Energy impact on
sustainable development
-
Energy economics
-
Investment analysis
-
Energy market modelling
-
Energy regulations and
policies
-
Environmental impact
assessment and strategic environmental assessment
-
Renewable energy
technology and economics
-
Energy-environmental
policy design and assessment
-
Institutional questions
related to Energy, Sustainable Development and Environment Protection
-
…
with direct application to
systems of direct relevance to the energy sector.
The membership of the Energy SIG is made up
of people sharing the interest in using systems thinking and associated
model-tools in energy-related domains. You are invited to join this Energy SIG and
are encouraged to become member of the System Dynamics Society.
We welcome you to our Energy SIG !
