Institutionalization and Education Reform Model

Has anyone produced a model based on this paper?

Brexit @ ISDC

Hi,

It would be nice to collaborate about how to model features of Brexit over the next few days. Both for people working actively on analyses, as well as perhaps for our SD community to put forth something collectively into the public domain.

Best wishes,
Sarah

Re: Systems Thinking as a Cognitive Ability

Great question. Not to my knowledge, but my belief is that systems thinking is a "global skill", a sort-of literacy like drawing or riding a bicycle, perhaps made up of a distinctive set of sub-skills. I also have a hypothesis that it is a predominantly right-brain activity, and yet that one of the ...

SD & Accounting

Hi all, I'm just searching for anything linking SD to accounting. Evidently balance sheets can be matched up with stocks; cash flows with, well, flows....etc. I'd appreciate links to anything related to this topic in any way - in particular: (i) anything that's unpublished in the academic literature...

Re: about articles published in the last april june review

Dear Jean-Jacques, Please do not leave. At least, speaking for myself, (a MSc in SD and now pursuing a PhD using SD...still a student...plus 8 years of using SD in business and consulting)...I may be mostly silent, but I really value your contribution and everything that you add to these forums. I a...

Re: Arrival Rate Equation

Bill, How about the attached model? It seems to me that you could break the arrivals equation down into (i) a varying arrivals rate plus (ii) a varying fraction expected arrivals that are no shows. I've varied the former based on a poisson distribution and the latter on a random normal distribution....

Re: Using regression coefficients in a model

Thank you for the responses. I will try to clarify, as I now have a bit more clarity myself on what's happening. First, the regression (not my work) is a geographically-weighted regression. It looks at 200+ neighbourhoods and finds some significant variables correlated(?) with a specific public heal...

Using regression coefficients in a model

Hi, We are trying to integrate (spatial) regression analysis with an SD model for a public health project. From spatial regression analysis, say: fraction happy people in neighborhood = constant + 0.05(greenspace index) - 0.16(dog poop density) y = c + m1(a) + m2(b) m1 is a the regression coefficien...

Suitability of SD for modelling in data-poor environments

Hi, I am looking for examples and case studies in which SD has been used convincingly in a data-poor environment. By 'convincingly', I specifically mean that quantitatively-focused people would be convinced of the validity of the method. Best would be an example wherein the model was used to priorit...
