As a visitor to Athens you will experience the excitement of going to places where great historic events actually happened 25 centuries ago. Athens museums house great collections of works of art. The hills and mountains in and around Athens will offer you panoramic views of the city, the most spectacular of which is from the top of the Lycabettus Hill. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a photo with the hourly changing guard in front of the Parliament by soldiers dressed in colourful traditional costumes.

On your free time, take a stroll through some of Athens' trendy neighbourhoods filled with shopping and restaurants such as Plaka and Monastiraki. Here you can eat in a typical “taverna” with traditional Greek dishes and local retsina wine, or take the “mezedes” (appetizers) with Ouzo. Seafood can be found in fish restaurants at the fishing harbour of Mikrolimano in Piraeus, as well as the coastal suburbs of Athens such as Glyfada, Vouliagmeni and Varkiza. There is also a grand variety of gourmet restaurants found in Kolonaki, Psiri and other central areas.

Athens boasts a lively nightlife. A great number of concerts and performances take place all year round. During your stay, don’t miss the unique opportunity to attend the Nana Mouskouri farewell concert on July 23 at the ancient theatre of Herodes Atticus.

Just a few kilometres from the city’s centre is the south coast, with splendid beaches. Just have fun in the sun, swim and relax.
