Nominating Committee Report

The nominating committee for the 2003 slate is comprised of:

Ali Mashayekhi, Chair, Jac Vennix, Jim Hines, David Ford, Pal Davidsen, Carmine Bianchi and Frank Maier

As you know, last year in Atlanta the Policy Council did not make any decision about the nominees for the future vacant slates (presented by Jac Vennix as Past President and his nominating committee). The Policy Council thought it was too early to make that decision. Because of this, we needed to present a new nominating committee as well as a revised slate of candidates for consideration at the Winter Policy Council Meeting. The minutes of the Atlanta meeting are pasted below:

Postpone Officer Nomination Process.  Jack Pugh reviewed the current situation, where we now have four Presidents named and a Secretary whose replacements nomination comes before his first term is started. He suggested that this be changed by basically skipping one year of nominations. Bob Eberlein moved and David Andersen seconded a motion That Ali Mashayekhi form a Nominating Committee that will present the slate for 2003 at the February 2002 Policy Council meeting, and that this committee include Jac Vennix, Frank Maier, Jim Hines, Carmine Bianchi, and David Ford.  The motion passed unanimously.

I, as the Past President and the Chair of the new committee, suggest that we list for the new nominating committee the same people that are listed above and add Pal Davidsen as President Elect (Ex officio), and only consider new candidates for those offices that have recently been identified to need candidates (VP Meetings for 2003 and VP Chapters for

2003 and one Policy Council Member 2003 - 2005).

Based on the above points, here are the nominations. All candidates have been asked if they were interested in the positions and all have said yes. The slate we are presenting is:

David Lane 2003 – 2005 (same nominee as last year - not voted on)

Etienne Rouwette 2003 – 2005 (same nominee as last year - not voted on)

Deborah Campbell 2003 - 2005 (same nominee as last year - not voted on)

Scott Rockart 2003 – 2005 (Jody House was nominated but has declined)

Subject: Office of the Secretary 2003-2004

Dear Ali,

Because of a change in circumstances surrounding the office of Secretary, I would like to decline the nomination for the term 2003 - 2004. If this or another office becomes open in the future, I would be pleased to be reconsidered.

Best regards, Jim
