| Background of Organization |
The mission of the Brown School Social System
Design Lab (SSD Lab) is to advance the science and field of practice in
system dynamics for human services, including social work, education,
health, and public health. The Social System Design Lab pursues its mission
with a commitment to evidence-based practice, social justice, and capacity
building. Underlying all aspects of the lab are the principles of system
dynamics.
The overarching goal for the SSD Lab is to further the development of a
field of practice that actively combines system dynamics and social work.
The SSD Lab provides a resource for students, professionals, researchers,
and leaders seeking to learn and apply system dynamics to problems in human
services and communities. |

| Position description |
Perform daily tasks related to coordinating specific
current projects; schedule meetings, trainings, conference calls for SSDL
staff; fill various roles during group model building sessions, such as
recorder, reflector, or facilitator; organize and prepare logistics related
all group model building and Core Modeling Team sessions; maintain files and
supplies; complete IRB paperwork; and other duties as assigned.
Actively participate in planning, organizing and evaluating group model
building. Draft scripts for all sessions. Assist with preparing written
reports, program evaluation plans and analysis of group model building
sessions, refining scripts, and help prepare findings for dissemination.
Assist students working on the project; prepare presentations on project
results; Contribute as a professional staff member to all Lab initiatives.

| Required skills |
Bachelor's degree in a related social science required and relevant experience.
- Mastery of computer word processing software, basic understanding of
other computer programs and competence in learning new software.
- Ability to assess the amount of time required for a task and meet
multiple deadlines.
- Highly organized with attention to detail in editing,
record-keeping, and monitoring the progress of milestones.
- Ability to collaborate with and motivate others, as well as
prioritize and monitor their work flow and quality. Ability to work
effectively with a diverse group of faculty, consultants, study participants
and staff with varying degrees of technical and research sophistication.
- Ability to present self and projects to both internal and external
partners, including university faculty and collaborating community agencies.
- Excellent communication skills to deal with study participants.
- Strong ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- A flexible personality and schedule.

| Desired Skills |
Master's degree
- Teaching or group facilitation experience with children, youth, and
young adults.
- Experience working with and/or teaching people using system dynamics
or system thinking concepts
- Fluent in a second language (e.g., Spanish, Hindi, Mandarin).
- Experience using MS Project as a tool to manage project
deliverables.
