Background of Organization The Paul Scherrer Institute is with 1300 employees the largest research centre for the natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland and a worldwide leading user laboratory. Its research activities are concentrated on the three main topics of solid-state physics, energy and environmental research as well as human health. The research group "Dynamics of Innovative Systems DIS" is analyzing induced technology change processes towards sustainable road transportation.

Modeling Technology Change in the Car Maker Industry
Job location Villigen, Switzerland
Position description You will plan and perform participative system dynamics modeling work for analyzing effective technology change strategies and policies in the car maker industry. Your work will build on previous modeling work accomplished in the DIS group. In order to elaborate on a technology change framework for the car maker industry, you will work together with experts of the car-maker industry for customizing the model structure and for parameterizing the simulation model as well as for designing insightful virtual strategy and policy experiments. Besides providing direct decision support, your work should result in scientific publications that contribute to the field of innovation and policy research.
Required skills You hold a PhD in physics, economics or other applied modeling disciplines with designated experiences in participatory system dynamics modeling. You enjoy working with practitioners and developing sophisticated inquiry instruments to support the participatory modeling task. You have good communications and writing skills in English and German.
Desired Skills Preferably you have some expertise on alternative drivetrain technologies and fuels.
