Position description

Research and training opportunities are available regarding the application of systems analysis methods in studying the risk factors, interventions and consequences of obesity in Department of International Health, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University. These may include graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, graduate research assistants, and research staff (e.g., with a master degree in systems analysis related training) positions.

The candidate will be involved in several ongoing research and training projects including a new Johns Hopkins Global Center for Childhood Obesity recently established based on a 5-year $16 million NIH Center grant, depend on his/her background and research interests including those related to systems analysis (modeling); public health; obesity; child health; health disparities; associations between social, behavioral, and environmental factors and risks for chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes. Some of the projects are funded by the NIH, some are US-based and some are international projects, and some are based on existing data, which provide good research, training and publication opportunities under the guidance of Dr. Youfa Wang.

Required skills Candidates with formal training and research experience in systems dynamics or analysis are desired. Ideal applicants should have a MS or PhD in computing science, engineering, sociology, human nutrition, epidemiology, or other related areas with related research experience, strong data analysis and communication skills, and good publication record. Our group will also recruit strong graduate students as trainees.
